Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips has been sidelined for two weeks with a hand injury that requires surgery.
According to Bayonne, Phillips sustained the injury in training which means he will miss the club's Basque derby against Biarritz on Sunday.
The 30-year-old, who has made 68 appearances for Wales, will also be sidelined for Bayonne's Amlin Challenge Cup opener against Italian side Rugby Mogliano on October 12 but could be fit for their next European tie against the Dragons at Rodney Parade on October 20.
