I wonder if Peter Wheeler took too many bumps from Welsh opponents during his playing career and it has subsequently affected his judgement?

Can we have some more 2nd tier club rugby there too please? Russia Georgia Romania and Spain all could offer more to a competition and grow the game there with tv coverage and the cash it brings...

Oh dearie dearie me, well what a shame. Well they can always go and ask the Super 15 if they can play with them (there would obviously have to be a clause in the contract about improving their style of play, and another one about not trying to force unreasonable demands on the other teams in the very near future). If they don't want to play with them either,I guess if they ask nicely enough we might consider leaving them back in the HC.

this is what Jeremy Guscott is saying on the bbc rugby website:

"Hi all, we've all read and listened to what's happening and I find it all enthralling, this will go on for some time yet. It's basically about money but also about a level playing field in qualification for the best club competition globally. It is unfair that Rabo 12 teams have different qualification criteria than the English and French - it should be the same with just the top six Rabo teams to qualify. The French and English do attract more tv viewers because of their bigger playing populations but it wouldn't be anywhere as good a competition with just the French and English.

I think there are a number of compromises to negotiate such as having a representative from Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy somehow given automatic qualification. If BT offer more money with the same quality coverage then I can't see any of the teams not wanting a slice of that cash, especially Welsh or Scottish teams given their current financial situations.

I don't believe the English or French teams deserve more money than any other team participating in a European Cup competition. There should be bigger financial rewards for clubs the further you go in the competition. This debate between stakeholders is set to run and run and it won't be settled quickly unless there really is a lot of money on the table that can't be turned down."

Have the greedy English shot themselves in the foot again? Across the board this is a nation that only thinks of itself.

"Leinster have won three of the last four European Cups and their rivals in England and France claim that is partly a result of a qualification system that allows them to rest their players during the PRO12 season."

(Holds no water: the Cups won were because we were by far the best team. Gripe all you like, it's not becoming. Leinster have managed to finish top by resting and rotating, even if you decided to try and stiff the 4 Unions by robbing the berths that are rightfully theirs, Leinster would have qualified at a canter regardless. You're greedy and inherently dishonest, and you're not winning any friends- actually you're losing the few you had.)

So, in short, the English have once again made complete fools of themselves in front of an entire continent. Nobody in the rugby world takes you lot seriously, least of all the French.

We should kick you straight out of the Cup for the utter arrogance and insubordination of your moronic bartering. Here's a tip: you'd need something people want in order to bargain successfully. English rugby is a laughing stock not only due to your endless stupidity which you love to highlight every few years occasions such as these, but also because the standard is abysmal. We could have a whip round to see what people would pay *not* to have to watch your depressing brand of bosh rugby... I'll get the ball rolling and throw a tenner into the pot.

Why do they keep making this point? It makes no sense and really just comes across as whining. The French / English seem to think it would be much fairer if the top 6 teams in the Pro12 qualify. In the years Leinster won the Heineken Cup, they were within the top 6. They would have qualified regardless of which of the two systems were in place whilst still rotating their players (and they are the only team to do so to such a degree, people seem to suggest development teams are played by all teams regularly - this just isn't the case). Leinster are currently the best team in Europe. That's all. Wasps, Leicester, Toulouse, etc. had their time at the top. Now it's someone else's. Another team will rise to the top in the future.

As for saying the Scottish / Italians shouldn't auto-qualify, well, there were no problems with that over the last 15 years or so. There's only a problem now that Toulouse suffered an upset.

As I've said before, it's really a case of nations making more money at the expense of their players and quality of club rugby and them not being able to accept the negative consequences that come with that. However, fair play to the French for not succumbing to the money-grabbing PRL's wishes.

So what duz this mean for the English? Will they form a comp with every other european nations teams. Well at least they can be sure to win. Think thats what they wanted any way.

At last they've finally gotten around the table for some real discourse and debate,

One thing I feel that should be insisted upon from September 2014 on-wards is that whatever shape the tournament takes, whoever are the major broadcaster's, They demand that Saracens actually try to play rugby to justify charging 50,000 punters seeing them.

If i was an English rugby supporter, i would be ashamed and embarrassed by this. Seriously all who were involved with this incompetence should resign with immediate effect and count them selves lucky if English teams don't get kicked out of the competition.

I think most logical people knew this.

I still however, fail to see their point. Why haven't the Ospreys won the Heineken Cup if that's the case? The French sides rest their players more than the Celtic teams do, most French sides can field two quality teams...

Arrogant English as usual! Us Celtic nations are merely Underlings to our grander English counterparts! Just as Lancaster works his hardest to destroy the image of English rugby being arrogant the bosses above go and do this!

My people at home and my peoples across the seas, I ask you to stand calm, firm and united in this time of trial. The task will be hard. There may be dark days ahead and war can no longer be confined to the battlefield (Stade de France? Twickenham?). But we can only do the right as we see the right and reverently commit our cause to God.
