Serious prop problems in Perpignan

Perpignan s prop Nicolas Mas C is tackled

Injury blow: Nicolas Mas

Perpignan are set to hit the market in search of a prop after losing captain Nicolas Mas for a month and Tongan international Kisi Pulu and three months.

The news was bittersweet in Perpignan on Tuesday. Scans revealed that veteran French international prop Mas will be sidelined for only three to four weeks with a torn hamstring after it had initially been feared that he could be out for two months.

But the Catalans, who have lost all three of their games in the Top 14 so far this season, are far from rejoicing because the man who replaced Mas on the pitch in last weekend's defeat to Clermont, Pulu, broke his arm in the same game.

Mas, who was rested during France's June tour to Argentina in the hope of avoiding exactlky this type of injury, will now miss USAP's home game against Bayonne on Saturday, their clash against Toulouse in Barcelona the following week and the trip to Paris to face Stade Français.

With Pulu ruled out until December, Perpignan are set to search for a medical joker.

The bad news doesn't end there though as loose forward Jean-Pierre Pérez will undergo surgery this week to repair ruptured knee ligaments. His season is essentially over.

Wales lock Luke Charteris has a calf injury and is doubt for this weekend.

They could borrow some props from that joke of a league pro12 as they don't really play serious rugby until the HC.

I'd like to suggest Mr. Mike MacDonald and Mr. Shawn Pittman as able replacements. One brings loads of experience and the other would have much to gain from some time in the Top 14.

The front row battle last week at marcel michelin was massively anticipated but lasted only a few minutes.....

Check these starting names out (and this is just a measly club game remember!!)

Clermont: 3. Davit Zirakashvili, 2 Ti'i Paulo, 1 Vincent Debaty.

USAP: 3 Nicolas Mas, 2 Guilhem Guirado, 1 Sona Taumalolo.
