It must be extremely frustrating to be found guilty of telling the truth, but if ever a country needed to take a good look at it's refereeing it's France. As someone who has been watching Top 14 both live and on Television over the last nine years, it has to be said that many of the referees are just not up to scratch. Overlooking dirty play, no knowledge of the laws, overweight, too old, unfit, it's shameful. It hurts not only people like Bernard Laporte and others who have spoken out over the years, but also French rugby in general. A friend of mine an ex France B International, asked me what I thought of French rugby and I stated what I had seen. He was over 60 years old and had played the game to a high level and was in total agreement. Neither of us could understand how deliberate dirty play and quite often fighting would be totally igtnored ( More common at the 2nd and 3rd Tier level of the game than Top 14 ) by referees. Fair to say that over the last few years the national side have really tidied up their act, but for the French rugby authorities to not recognise their own failings in both the administration, discipline and training of referees is shameful. Chapeau Mons Laporte.
