Confident: Shaun Edwards

Wales defence coach Shaun Edwards has urged his side to "make history" this June by beating South Africa on their home ground for the first time.

Wales, who have only bested the Springboks at the Millennium Stadium, are preparing to tackle an experienced outfit in Durban and Nelspruit.

But coach Edwards believes the opportunity is there to triumph during their two-Test series.

"If we win, we'll make history," he explained to walesonline.co.uk ahead of the June action.

"I'm confident that we'll be a minimum of competitive.

"They have an outstanding squad which I think is the best team they've had since the 2007 World Cup and the 2009 side who played the Lions.

"They were the best team in the world at that time, and this is the best team they've had since then.

"It's a mammoth task, probably the toughest place to play rugby in the world physically."
