Next in line: Aaron Shingler

Wales back-row Aaron Shingler knows that the tour to South Africa is a huge opportunity to impress in the absence of key players.

Injuries have hit hard at the back of the scrum for Wales, with captain Sam Warburton and openside Justin Tipuric both out of the tour.

That leaves Shingler in line to start against the Springboks, with the man from the Scarlets fully aware of the task ahead.

"I'm probably viewing it as my big chance," Shingler told WalesOnline.

"I've not played for Wales for a while so I would be happy to get an opportunity out there - it's going to be one hell of a battle."

Despite having previously appeared for Wales at number eight, Shingler is confident he can do a job in the seven jersey against the likes of Schalk Burger, Francois Louw and the rest.

"Of course it's a real challenge," added Shingler.

"They have got a good, powerful and physical back-row but I can definitely do a job at seven.

"I'm comfortable with that role. I will play my game and hopefully perform.

"I have been switched around a lot in my career. I started in the second-row and two years ago in Australia I had a go at number eight.

"I'm very comfortable playing six because it is where I have played most often but when you play a new position it's very exciting, a new experience and sometimes there's a bit less pressure to do yourself justice."
