Saracens prop Mako Vunipola seems set to miss England's tour of New Zealand after undergoing surgery on a dislocated knee.
The 23-year-old's participation on the tour had been in doubt after he picked up an injury last weekend in Cardiff.
"Mako has undergone surgery to repair a dislocation of the patella in his right knee, suffered during the Heineken Cup final last weekend," read a club statement.
"He will return to full fitness later this year."
With Alex Corbisiero rested for the tour following a lengthy layoff, England's options at loosehead include Joe Marler, Matt Mullan and the uncapped Bath prop Nathan Catt.
