Man-of-the-match Quade Cooper was delighted with Australia's 30-26 victory over Wales at the Millenium Stadium on Saturday.
Despite a late yellow-card, the fly-half impressed with his attacking prowess, offloading and kicking from hand as the Wallabies finished 2013 with a win.
"As a team we are very relieved. We knew it would be a tough finish to the season," Cooper told the BBC.
"We put things together as a team but we knew Wales is a class outfit and would come back at us."
Ewen McKenzie's side had led their hosts by 14 points going into the final 20 minutes, but Cooper - winning his 50th cap - denies Australia believed they had the game won.
"Not at all," added Cooper.
"Wales are a class outfit. They are not the Six Nations champion for no reason.
"They kept coming at us. We had to stick to our guns and do what we've been doing on this tour."
