Blaine Scully v Newcastle

It is time for us to put our heads on the block and give you Planet Rugby's calls for this weekend's global action.

Let's get started.

International

Wales v Australia

Memories of Kurtley Beale sinking Wales in the closing stages of Nathan Sharpe's Test finale come flooding back when thinking ahead to Saturday's clash.

Wales were 12-9 ahead with just a minute remaining before Beale struck to continue the home side's dismal run against the big southern hemisphere trio.

Beale won't be in attendance this year but that doesn't mean Australia are any less dangerous, with Israel Folau, Quade Cooper and Nick Cummins in form.

Folau and Cummins are 9 and 10/1 respectively for first try-scorer while we also like the returning Alex Cuthbert at 5/1 to be Wales' first try-scorer.

You would struggle to find people predicting anything but a close game at the Millennium Stadium - especially on a pitch that may slow down matters - which is why taking a punt on the winning margins of both teams by 1-5 points at 4/1 isn't a bad call. We also, as ever, like the exact winning margins and are tempted by Wales by 4 points at 22/1 and Australia by 2 at the same price. Use your discretion and it may be worth another go to cover yourself.

Prediction: Australia by 2

Aviva Premiership

Gloucester v Leicester Tigers:

The Tigers have been hit by a lengthy injury list at the start of the season, and their away record against the stronger Premiership teams has not been great. That said, Gloucester have struggled through an inconsistent opening period, and this one looks set to prove a tight affair.

We think a flutter on the visitors to win by 1-5 points at 4/1 is most likely to come up trumps, while ex-Tiger Billy Twelvetrees bagged a brace last week against Harlequins, and is priced at 18/1 to score first.

The Welford Road side's transatlantic recruit, Blaine Scully, may also be worth a punt at 14/1. We don't think there will be much in this one, which is why we are forecasting an away win.

Prediction: Leicester by 5

Other SuperBru Aviva Premiership Predictions:

London Irish v Wasps: Irish by 3
Worcester v Northampton: Northampton by 14
Bath v Exeter: Bath by 6
Newcastle v Harlequins: Harlequins by 5

RaboDirect PRO12

Edinburgh v Connacht

Edinburgh have a fine home record this season, including a Heineken Cup victory over Munster, and will be expected to overcome a Connacht side that haven't won since the opening day of the season (at home to Zebre).

However, Connacht's last away success came at Murrayfield back in April. We don't envisage this being a classic, nor a high-scoring affair, and with the hosts hefty favourites, a bet on Edinburgh -8 should prevail at 10/11 on Friday.

Prediction: Edinburgh by 11

Other SuperBru Pro12 Predictions:

Ospreys v Glasgow: Glasgow by 4
Dragons v Munster: Munster by 9
Zebre v Ulster: Ulster by 15
Treviso v Cardiff Blues: Treviso by 4
Leinster v Scarlets: Leinster by 8

Top 14

Perpignan v Clermont

There are some big matches in France on Saturday as Stade Francais take on Toulon while Racing Metro face Montpellier. But we choose Friday's fixture at Stade Aimé Giral where seventh-place Perpignan tackle Clermont, who sit in second position, coming into this away game on the back a big win over Racing.

Clermont are without Benson Stanley, who has a pulled stomach muscle, while Wesley Fofana, Aurelien Rougerie, Lee Byrne and Sitiveni Sivivatu are doubts, which makes USAP the favourites with the bookmakers. They are also without influential scrum-half Morgan Parra so expect Perpignan to edge this fixture.

Prediction: Perpignan by 3

Good luck!
