Robshaw not focused on England

Head down: Chris Robshaw

Chris Robshaw is not letting speculation over his place in the England side distract from Harlequins' upcoming Heineken Cup campaign.

The 2012 Premiership champions have been paired with Clermont, Racing Métro and the Scarlets in a tricky pool as they look to reach the semi-final stages for the first time.

Both Robshaw's captaincy of England and his spot in the number seven shirt are under threat following the leadership of Tom Wood during England's tour of Argentina in June, when Robshaw was rested.

Impressive performances so far this season from Billy Vunipola and Tom Johnson for Saracens and Exeter means that the back-row is an area of great depth for England, not forgetting Gloucester's Matt Kvesic.

Robshaw though is focused on getting the best possible start in Europe when Harlequins host the Scarlets on Saturday.

"It has always been one of those things where you address it in October or November," said Robshaw.

"At the moment it is all about the build-up to the Heineken Cup, it is all about Harlequins and that kind of remains over the next two weeks.

"We have got a massive competition in the Heineken Cup and all our attention is on that.

"As soon as you start thinking about things in three or four weeks time I think you lose focus, especially with big teams like Scarlets and Clermont, you have got to make sure you are 100 per cent focused on the job in hand. So we will deal with that and see what happens."
