Tommaso Allan has been called up to Italy's training squad ahead of the upcoming November Internationals.
Allan comes from a rich rugby background, with his uncle John having won nine caps for Scotland and also some for South Africa.
With an Italian mother and Scottish father, Allan is eligible for both countries and represented Scotland at U17, U18 and U20 level.
Allan has also played for Western Province in the Currie Cup, winning the U19 tournament in 2012, but his most recent move saw him sign for Perpignan in the Top 14 where he has started at fly-half and moved captain James Hook to full-back.
Other players called up to Italy's squad include centre Michele Campagnaro and winger Ruggero Trevisan.
Paul Derbyshire, Quintin Geldenhuys, Andrea Masi and Francesco Minto are all unavailable due to injury.
