Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill is confident Toby Flood will reclaim England's starting fly-half jersey this season.

Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill is confident Toby Flood will reclaim England's starting fly-half jersey in the coming months.

Flood found himself being behind Owen Farrell and Freddie Burns last season, but Cockerill believes he'll wrestle the spot back off his rivals.

"I think Floody is the best fly-half in the country and I expect him to be starting for England in the autumn and Six Nations," he told the Leicester Mercury after what's been a strong pre-season.

"He is going to be very important for us but, if England can get the best out of him, that is going to be the missing link for them."

Flood will be the club captain this season and Cockerill also believes that full-time promotion can only help the 28-year-old's game in 2013/14.

"Captaincy clearly suits Toby and he enjoys doing it," said Cockerill.

"He is in the best space he has been in while he has been here and he is playing really well."
