Ceri Large: Kicked a penalty for England

England's women's team have lost their Nations Cup title after suffering a 27-13 defeat to Canada in Colorado.

They were outscored three tries to two and never held the lead. England's inexperience finally caught up with them as their squad included 11 new caps.

Canada made a flying start as Cheryl Phillips touched down and, with Magali Harvey adding the extras, it was 7-0 early on.

Ceri Large got England moving with a 13th-minute penalty but Canada struck back with Bianca Farella scoring at the corner and Harvey again converting.

England made their way over the try-line just before half-time when Laura Keates powered over, but two Harvey penalties after the break maintained Canada's lead.

Victoria Fleetwood crossed over for a second England try but it was not converted and Canada ended on top, with Farella scoring her second try to wrap things up.

In the third and fourth-place play-off the hosts, the USA, claimed a morale-boosting 61-5 victory over South Africa.
