Stuart Lancaster: Achieved his targets

England boss Stuart Lancaster was delighted after Saturday's triumph over Argentina in Buenos Aires clinched a 2-0 Test series win.

Lancaster hailed England's South American tour as a mission accomplished after their 51-26 victory secured them their first series win in Argentina since 1981.

It also provides Lancaster with some fresh selection headaches - another target which he set himself at the start of the tour.

"I am delighted to get the series victory," he told Press Association Sport.

"We had not achieved that before (with a clean sweep).

"Credit to Argentina. They improved this week and put us under a lot of pressure so it is even more pleasing to have scored 50 points.

"One of our goals was to win all four games on tour, including the Barbarians game. Objective one achieved.

"Objective two was to develop other options and look at increasing our selection decisions, which has also been achieved.

"In terms of our evolution, this tour has been critical. Some of the young players have gained a huge amount of experience coming on this tour and we have developed new leaders.

"We can look forward to the autumn internationals having won seven of the last eight games."

Marland Yarde scored two tries on his international debut and there were further tries for inside centre Kyle Eastmond, fly-half Freddie Burns and hooker Rob Webber as well as two penalty tries.

What made the victory even more impressive is that Christian Wade and Billy Twelvetrees were both called up by the British and Irish Lions after impressing in England's first Test victory in Salta.

Yarde, Jonny May, Eastmond and Matt Kvesic grabbed their opportunities and Lancaster praised May's performance after Wade's call-up provided him with the chance to make his Test debut.

"Jonny was thrown in at the last minute," Lancaster said.

"I can't think of an error he made in the game."
