Dimtri Szarzewski side on for France

Focused: Dimitri Szarzewski

France hooker Dimitri Szarzewski is hoping his side can reproduce their performance at the breakdown against New Zealand on Saturday.

With the world champion All Blacks missing talisman Richie McCaw who is on sabbatical, Szarzewski admitted that his side found the going a little smoother at the rucks than when McCaw is present.

France ultimately lost the first Test by 23-13 and squandered a rare chance to pick up a win at Eden Park over their conquerers in the 2011 Rugby World Cup Final.

Now ahead of the second Test in Christchurch on Saturday, Szarzewski hopes that his side can maintain their dominance at the ruck area, whilst also fairing better at the scrum.

The Stade Franšais hooker, who has 70 caps, felt that his side were harshly penalised by referee Wayne Barnes in Auckland.

"We did very well last week and we are working on it again this week," said Szarzewski.

"We were very efficient in the ruck and we want to repeat the same thing on Saturday. Normally, Richie McCaw is getting a lot of ball at the break-downs."

"We were very disappointed for the scrum. There were a lot of penalties against us."
