Scotland captain Kelly Brown has been ruled out of the rest of his country's tour of South Africa due to injury.
Brown has come off an excellent season for Saracens and Scotland, but narrowly missed out on selection for the British and Irish Lions tour to Australia.
However, an ankle injury picked up during the 27-17 defeat to Samoa last weekend in Durban has now ruled Brown out of Scotland's remaining matches against South Africa and Italy.
A replacement for Brown is yet to be announced by Scotland, who have already lost Geoff Cross and Pat Macarthur to injury so far on tour, with Glasgow hooker Fraser Brown called up as a replacement.
"Kelly has a notable ankle injury. He had a scan at a local clinic which indicates ligament damage," said Scotland lead physiotherapist Paul McGinley.
"He will now be returned to the care of his club medical team at Saracens as he would be unable to play again on the rest of the tour."
