Cheetahs scrum-half Piet Van Zyl has been called up by South Africa as an injury replacement for Jano Vermaak.
Bulls number nine Vermaak was forced off the pitch after sustaining a hamstring injury on debut in the Springboks' heavy 44-10 win over Italy in Durban on Saturday.
Van Zyl, who is uncapped, could now make his own debut against Scotland next weekend in Nelspruit.
The injury to Vermaak marred South Africa's dominant win, in which they scored five tries and handed Test debuts to Vermaak, Trevor Nyakane, Jan Serfontein, Arno Botha and Willie Le Roux.
The Springboks top the table ahead of Samoa, who face Italy next weekend.
