Australia second row Sitaleki Timani has been cited for allegedly striking an opponent during Saturday's Test against Italy in Florence.

Waratahs enforcer Timani was reported by match commissioner Freek Burger following the incident in the 13th minute of the match.

The time and date of Timani's disciplinary hearing has yet to be confirmed.

Australia saw Timani's fellow lock Rob Simmons receive an eight-week suspension earlier this month after he was cited for a dangerous tackle in the Wallabies' appointment with France.

Simmons however is set to appeal his ban, with Australia finishing their European tour against Wales next Saturday in Cardiff.

He did punch a italian ,it was as clear as day,so a ban should be forthcoming,i expect it will be leanient as all the bans are atm ,and only 2 weeks .

Agree Wallaroo.

Nothing serious, he will learn, move on and become a better player.

The main objective of citing is also educational, let's not get then carried away too much and, yes, focus on hard but clean rugby.

OK but where's the citation for the blatant head-high/strangle from Lo Cicero on Sharpe that started the scuffle? A bit of consistency would be welcome.

Wasn't a smart thing to do by Timani, give him a couple of weeks off to think about it and consider his actions. Timani is a good player and will learn. Let's keep rugby physical but clean, it can be done.

Where's Stephen Jones and Gosling when we need them? Where's the screeds of pages of outrage and calls for life time bans?

this has gone too far. he did nothing wrong and the fact that he has been cited means that the game of rugby union is screwed. they have killed it. if it werent for the all blacks and wallabies when they are up and going and super rugby, rugby would be simply unwatchable
