New look: Scotland

Scotland have revealed their new-look change kit that will be worn during the November Tests against New Zealand and South Africa

Using the 'Saltire' as inspiration, the new shirt has been designed "to bring to life the pride and passion that Scottish players are renowned for so famously around the world of rugby," read a press release on Wednesday.

Scotland take to the field wearing the new kit for the first time against reigning Rugby World Cup holders and recently crowned Rugby Championship winners, New Zealand at Murrayfield on November 10.

"Playing for your country is one of the highest honours a rugby player can achieve and running onto the pitch at Murrayfield with the St. Andrew's Cross across our chest will be a "hairs on the back of the neck" moment," said Scotland and Edinburgh hooker Ross Ford.

Scotland face tough opposition in this year's three Tests against New Zealand, new world number two ranked side and 2007 Rugby World Cup winners South Africa and Tonga, but the team will be looking to build on their successful summer tour against the Southern Hemisphere sides where they won all three fixtures including a nail-biting encounter with Australia.

A lobster bib above, a truss below. And Puma blue instead of Scots blue. Well done, SRU.

@ rakavi187 - "uuhhmmm, the Cross is on your stomach and your sponsor's name is across your chest."

Perhaps they're going to eat so many deep-fried mars bars before the tests, that they'll have massive sagging moobs under the St Andrew's Cross. Not across the chest, as such, but closer...

like the argentina jersey but why isnt the flag actually on the chest - sponsors logo is why

Absolutely hideous, it should come with a free tin of shortbread and a haggis. Looks like something that would be sold on Princes Street to tourists. If the twee Scottish thing is to be pedalled out why not just go for a Tartan strip and be done with it. It was always going to be a difficult game against the All Blacks but this must make it even more of an uphill struggle. Is the hope the World Champions are put off their game laughing at us? Time for Scotland to find a new shirt manufacturer.

It looks like the sort of shirt that they use on Lomu Challenge Rugby on the xBox... it looks cheap, but in reality will cost £80???

I agree it is bad, look like they're wearing pinnies. Nobody will buy a replica so the whole marketing plan is up the swannie. On second thoughts, if I wear one to the pub at least I won't get run down on the stagger home.

The navy blue shirt they had a few years ago that just said Murray across the chest and didn't have the ridiculous honey-comb print on it was the best Scotland shirt I've seen. Adding the gold just looked dumb and this is even worse. It looks like they're wearing a baby's feeding bib. If they want to distinguish themselves they should start by not wearing mostly white like England. They should instead go for yellow and red like their rampant lion flag. Or some light purple like the thistle.

This shirt is only for NZ... but I have to say it is a bit overdone.

@ernie715 - very simple - I hear that Ross Ford is suggesting that they can beat the AB's. Obviously any sane person in Scotland doesn't believe that, so the rest of the team have tried to disguise themselves in a really daft outfit, so there's no association with the national rugby team. At least when they are then hammered, they can claim that the real team didn't show up on the day.

OMG no offense to Scotland supporters or players, but they look like they are wearing bibs in that picture I guess the relentless drive for income has struck again ,Why teams /unions feel the need to change strips sooften is beyond me once every 5 yrs should be more than enough imo.Didnt Scotland change strip just last year for the RWC??Changing your strip every year is just taking the piss imo.and gourging your supporters.
