I think we'll miss him. It must be hard to have to watch robshaw play for England and not be able to do a dame thing about it.

@ Centre12 - I agree with your back-row but, like melkdave, I wonder whether Armitage might get considered. When did he go to France? Was it before or after the policy was introduced? If before, he's still eligible (a la Palmer)...

Well done for Wood to be so honest ,but i also suspect given his lack of games this season he was never going to make the tour anyway .SL and co have already said picking players on reputation ect is not going to happen .Also we do have good 7s comming thru in Lawrance and Kvesic and Scysbrook is really inform atm .Not forgetting S.Armitage whos most probibly the best 7 in europe atm ,total shame his unavilable thru RFU policy imo

Huge fan of Wood's however I feel Robshaw offers a little bit more, and as much as I admire Wood I feel that you need to be captaining a club side before you do the job at international level. I think Croft, Robshaw (Capt) & Morgan are the way forward at the moment with Dowson on the bench, will be interesting to see Waldrom feature in the midweek side as well challenging for some first team action.

Even if England do "get smacked 3-0 in the series", selecting an unfit and out of practice Wood wouldn't change that.
This selection dilemma for Lancaster will have a wait a little longer. Hope he is back playing come Autumn

All the more reason to go for Armitage at 7. Wood is fantastic and Saints are really missing him. Wood stands out in the toughest games. Tough but right decision by Lancaster.

Top lad, brilliant attitude, one of the reasons he'd have made a good england captain and openside. It's a good idea that he lets himself rest the summer out though so that he's fit and fighting for the autumn tests when he could get a good chance of selection and for that matter full games.

That's a shame or him and for England. Great player with a great future.
But best he rests and lets his foot heal properly.

Good man. It's a shame, as he's a great player. But to admit you wouldn't be good enough, rather then glory-hunting for caps, just shows a maturity and an honesty which is very refreshing. Especially when considering it's England and rugby!
Get well soon, Woody. Let's have you fighting fit, ready for consideration for the Autumn Tests.
