@ Headhunter99 - SB is a prat. But for once, he's made a good shout. Luck? Perhaps. Blindingly obvious? Absolutely.

@ startledwombat - good point, well presented.

Regarding Will Greenwood, I think it's another reasonable shout. I've just been catching up with The School of Hard Knocks and his coaching style is a little raw, but he sure knows his onions. And he's been there and done it and got plenty of t-shirts. I'd still go for Catt, but WG isn't a bad option either.

@apv1

no, just once, with the door open to the conceptual yet remote possibility of twice. After all, this is Stuart Barnes the Sunday Times writer we are talking about.

@philb87 - Greenwood should be that lucky, I'm big,tall and cultured.. everything a back row forward should be.

Seriously Barnes spouts out complete drivel, especially on Sky.

Smith would be a good choice also P.Blake the Australian backs coach would be good if available .As to home coaches then M.Catt and D.Ellis would be good choices imo one for attack the other defence .I just hope the RFU get it right this time .As now England have the potential to be challangers and win bill in 2015given the young talant ect we have comming through

Its hardly rocket science Sturat Barnes is it. Smith is the most obvious candidate for english attack coach. If you have aspirations to be the best then get coached by the best.

Wayne will be smiling too if he gets the job too becasue suddenly he becomes Lancaster's obvious sucessor and will inherrit an England team in their prime. Suddenly Jake White and the others who didn't think the time was right to take on the England job will be getting be worried because Smith will have stollen a march on the lot of 'em.

Now all we need is for Stuart Lancaster to make the damn phone call.

Just goes to show that a broken clock can be right at least once a day.

Wayne Smith would be a great choice if we can get him.

PR should not get excited by the comments from Mr Barnes, he is a legend in his own mind and I think past his sell by date as a pundit. For a modern more balanced view I prefer to hear what Will Greenwood has to say.

This is what is meant by international rugby. You get us much help as you can internationally, then you give yourself a name like, say, England.

It would be nice to have smith now farrel is unavailable, especially with a top quality forwards coach like rowntree in there with Lancaster.
