London Wasps winger Tom Varndell is excited by the prospect of this week's Challenge Cup semi-final against Bath.

The former England international returned from a long layoff for Wasps last weekend in The Stinger at Twickenham against Gloucester, scoring an interception try.

Now the fleet-footed wing is eyeing up a busy end to the season, with Wasps in the last four of Europe and chasing a spot in the Rugby Champions Cup.

"I can't wait for next week. It's a massive game for us...it's another stepping stone," said Varndell.

"Bath have been in fantastic form all season. Like Gloucester they like to chuck it around and play from anywhere. But they have got to come to us and we are on a bit of a high now.

"We will take confidence from the Gloucester game and tighten up a little bit.

"The arm feels good, it feels really good. I was happy with it, I took some contact on it and it felt good throughout the whole game.

"My lungs were burning, but it was good to get through the game with no pain.

"This is definitely the freshest I have ever felt, but that comes with being out injured - you get to work on things you wouldn't have time for if you were playing every week.

"I'm ready to push on now. I'm confident that I can finish this season on a high, go well in the Challenge Cup and hopefully clinch that seventh place in the league."
