Argentina v Australia Martin Landajo Scott Higginbotham

Poor performance: Juan Martin Hernandez

Australia finished their Rugby Championship campaign on a high with a 25-19 victory over Argentina. Now Planet Rugby rates the Pumas.

15 Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino: A similar performance to the nervy outing in the first round, with aimless kicks and an awful pass to Agulla that ended a vital counter attack. He looks far less at home with the physical side of the game than his compatriots. 3/10

14 Gonzalo Camacho: The top Argentinian ball carrier with 73 metres made and three defenders beaten, he also made a number of crunching tackles. Managed to stand out amongst some poor performances. 8/10

13 Marcelo Bosch: Solid in defence again and took over goal kicking duties late on, but perhaps looked for the offload too often in his own half. 5/10

12 Santiago Fernandez: Was close to charging down a Beale kick and was the top tackler in the back-line. 6/10

11 Horacio Agulla: Bath's new signing has scored four tries in 40 internationals and perhaps illustrated why he has that ratio. Committed as many penalties as he had carries. 4/10

10 Juan Martin Hernandez: Bagged his opening three kicks at goal but very little else. Failed to exert any control on the game and los Pumas looked more dangerous in attack in the 20 minutes after his substitution. 4/10

9 Martin Landajo: Showed a few brief examples of his ability to break but also missed all his tackles and tried to offload too often in difficult conditions, which put pressure on his team. Has to share the blame with his fly-half for some poor game management early on. 5/10

8 Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe (c): Led from the front again with most carries and most rucks hit for his side. Another game where he had to go through his range of apologetic expressions to try and appease a referee unhappy with his team's efforts at the contact area. 7/10

7 Juan Manuel Leguizamon: Managed eight tackles in the 47 minutes he was on the pitch and relieved pressure with a touch-finder that some of his back-line colleagues would have been envious of. 6/10

6 Julio Farias Cabello: Made a good number of tackles, but like the rest of his pack turned the ball over in contact and conceded a penalty at the breakdown. 5/10

5 Patricio Albacete: In a game of 28 penalties, the Toulouse lock had the ignominy of conceding the individual highest tally with 4 and was sin-binned after 24 minutes . 4/10

4 Manuel Carizza: Took five line-outs but was guilty of spilling the ball a number of times in the loose. 5/10

3 Juan Figallo: Slowed down and disrupted a decent Argentinian overlap but also put in a couple of monster hits. Was part of a front row that won two free kicks and a scrum penalty early in the game. 6/10

2 Eusebio Guinazu: Will be furious at himself for over-throwing a crucial attacking line-out. 5/10

1 Rodrigo Roncero: Work rate was right down from other performances and still looked exhausted from chasing All Blacks the week before. Was playing in his final game and given the full appreciation from the crowd when he departed. Legend. 6/10

Replacements:

16 Agustin Creevy: Managed four carries in his 18 minute cameo. 6/10

17 Juan Pablo Orlandi: Replaced Figallo with 10 minutes to go and made a strong carry but little chance to impress. 5/10

18 Leonardo Senatore: Not on long enough to warrant a rating.

19 Tomas Leonardi: Turned the ball over twice after coming on and that was about it. 4/10

21 Nicolás Sánchez: His arrival sparked the best period in the match for the home side and unlike the majority, managed to neither knock on nor give away a penalty. 6/10

22 Juan Imhoff: Brought on with his side chasing the game, the Racing Metro wing was bundled over the line to close the gap in scores and perhaps should have featured more regularly over the six rounds. 6/10

Oh and nice shot of Ioane in a Pumas jersey getting tackled by Higgers

@georgesmith, well played mate - you actually made sense, and not one remark about Ritchie McCheat, Robbie Deans, or Nathan Sharpe. Oh, except for the bit about 5 competitive matches. Though to be fair, I don't think the pasting by the AB's 2 weeks ago counts as a competitive loss..

Thank you for memories R. Roncero. You are great and have my respect. Pumas will miss you so much. A great player like him needs to be retained in the coaching and development mix by the rugby union in Argentina. What a legend of the game!

I hope the Pumas have some depth and will also be able to compete next year.

A draw and five competitive losses is not bad at all.
