Worcester Warriors boss Dean Ryan was delighted to pick up a first win in any competition this season for his team in the LV= Cup.
Ryan's side saw off Cardiff Blues 21-16 at Arms Park to end a run of nine matches this season without a win in either the Aviva Premiership of Amlin Challenge Cup.
The Warriors ran in three tries in Cardiff thanks to Rob O'Donnell, James Stephenson and Max Stelling.
Currently nine points adrift at the bottom of the Premiership, Ryan's squad desperately needed a confidence boost and although not everything was perfect in the win, the former England player believes it is a positive step forward.
"Let's not pretend we've solved everything tonight," said Ryan.
"But we've got a win and we've got a few youngsters playing - and that's good.
"I thought the first-half performance was excellent.
"But the second half showed some of our vulnerabilities under pressure and that just shows where we are and how we're growing.
"We had to make a few changes in the second half, which didn't help our momentum, but to come away from here and get a result is very pleasing."
