Golden Lions coach Johan Ackermann has named a strong-looking XV to face the Blue Bulls in their Currie Cup opener at Ellis Park.

Golden Lions coach Johan Ackermann has named a strong-looking XV to take on the Blue Bulls in their Currie Cup opener at Ellis Park on Saturday.

In the absence of tighthead, Julian Redelinghuys, who has a minor calf injury, Ruan Dreyer has been selected in the number three jersey.

MB Lusaseni and Franco Mostert are named at lock while Jaco Kriel, Derick Minnie and Warren Whiteley are Ackermann's impressive back-row.

The half-back duo consists of Ross Cronje and Marnitz Boshoff while Ruan Combrink, Lionel Mapoe and Andries Coetzee are the back-three.
