Blue Bulls coach Pine Pienaar has made six changes in total to his side's starting line-up to take on the Griquas in Kimberley on Saturday.
The Bulls were well-beaten last week's clash with the Golden Lions at Ellis Park, but did manage to salvage a try-bonus point.
Handre Pollard returns to the side at stand-off having overcome an ankle injury that kept him out of the Lions clash, with Tony Jantjes making way.
The troubled Pretoria outfit also hand first Currie Cup starts to William Small-Smith and David Bullbring at outside centre and second row respectively.
This sees Wilhelm Steenkamp dropped from the matchday squad altogether, and Ulrich Beyers relegated to the bench.
Elsewhere, Sampie Mastriet is named on the right wing, and Marcel Van der Merwe replaces the injured Morne Mellett at loosehead prop.
A recall for Bongi Mbonabi sees him named among the substitutes, while Jaco Visagie returns to the under-21 team.
Blue Bulls: 15 Jurgen Visser, 14 Sampie Mastriet, 13 William Small-Smith, 12 Francois Venter, 11 Akona Ndungane, 10 Handré Pollard,9 Rudy Paige, 8 Jono Ross (c), 7 Jacques du Plessis, 6 Wiaan Liebenberg, 5 David Bulbring, 4 Paul Willemse, 3 Werner Kruger, 2 Bandise Maku, 1 Marcel van der Merwe.
