Springbok centre Juan de Jongh is set to return to Western Province's starting XV for Saturday's Currie Cup match against Griquas in Kimberley.
De Jongh was left out of South Africa's squad that travelled to Argentina as Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer is allowed to only take 26 players on tour.
It is understood that the players omitted from the touring group for will be able to play in the Currie Cup, which is a boost for WP as Pat Howard appears to be battling with a light hamstring strain.
"Pat has a tight hamstring and he felt it again (during the match against the Cheetahs), so it was the right right call to get him off the field before he fatigues and tears it," WP coach Allister Coetzee told Supersport
The Cape-based side's other injury concern for this weekend is flyhalf Gary van Aswegen, who took a knock to his shoulder in Saturday's 15-14 victory over the Cheetahs at Newlands.
If Van Aswegen is unavailable Coetzee will have Demetri Catrakilis to fall back on. Catrakilis is back in the Cape on loan and will be available this week after sitting out the first fortnight with injury.
