Former Kings full-back SP Marais will get his first run out for the Sharks against the Lions on Friday.
Marais linked up with his new team late last week and a hamstring strain to Sizo Maseko sees him elevated into the starting XV.
In the only other change to the team that suffered a shock loss to Griquas, Heimar Williams starts at inside centre after Tim Whitehead was ruled out due to rib and ankle injuries.
With the Lions also having lost their opening round fixture, Sharks backline coach Sean Everitt is well aware that they'll be desperate to get a win under their belts.
"The Lions will want to get onto the winning track, likewise with us as well," Everitt told the Sharks' official website
"They're a tough team to play against, they contest the breakdown really well and they defend well around the fringes of the rucks. If we're to be on top of our game, we'll have to improve a lot from Friday night and I think, in the Lions, we'll be dealing with the same animal that we had in Griquas.
"The Lions are physical but they also like to move the ball around, so defensively, we'll need to hold our width as well as contain them around the edges."
