Chiefs hooker Hika Elliot and young outside back Sione Molia have joined Counties Manukau for the upcoming ITM Cup.
Elliot joins the Steelers from Hawke's Bay after failing to book his place in Steve Hansen's All Black squad. The All Blacks' loss is Counties' gain though, with coach Tana Umaga snapping up the chance to get the experienced campaigner on board.
"Hika's leadership and experience will be highly valued by our team especially with key players Tim Nanai-Williams and Mahonri Schwalger out," Umaga told the Steelers' website. "We are fortunate to have someone of Hika's calibre available to us at this late stage."
The 19-year-old Molia arrives from the Karaka Club and is an exciting prospect.
"I have grown up looking up to these boys and now I am playing with them and consider myself lucky to have a head coach like Tana," commented Molia.
The Steelers get their ITM Cup campaign underway against Wellington next Thursday.
