Waterlogged: Scotstoun

Glasgow Warriors' rearranged PRO12 fixture against Treviso has been set for Friday April 4th at Scotstoun, 1935 (local and GMT).

The clash with Treviso - alongside an eagerly-awaited 1872 Cup showdown with inter-city rivals Edinburgh - was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Scotstoun arena over the Festive period.

The derby match will now take place on the weekend of 25/26/27th April, with the exact date and kick-off time to be confirmed.

The capacity of Scotstoun for the 1872 Cup final will be increased and could exceed the 13,246 record for this game, which was set at Murrayfield in season 2011/12. The capacity will be more than the 8,852 record for the fixture being played in Glasgow, when the two teams met at Firhill on 1 January 2012.

The 1872 Cup final will be played on the weekend of the Heineken Cup and Amlin Cup semi-finals and therefore ERC must approve the date and kick-off time, once they know which teams will be involved in the last four stage of the European competitions.

The club have confirmed tickets purchased for both of the original fixtures are valid for the rearranged games, though certain tickets will be re-issued due to the new stands that will be in place.

"We've been working with our various stakeholders for a number of weeks to find suitable dates for our postponed fixtures, to ensure both games can be played at the most suitable times," said Warriors managing director Nathan Bombrys.

"When it was clear all the teams involved would not be able to progress in Europe, we were able to reschedule the matches outside the Six Nations window.

"Although the exact date and kick-off time for the Edinburgh game has still to be confirmed, we hope by confirming the weekend the game will be played will help supporters make appropriate plans.

"We've also been able to increase our capacity for the 1872 Cup final and the important PRO12 match against Ulster by bringing forward part of the build of the temporary seats, which will be put in place for the IRB Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s on 3 and 4 May.

"We'd like to thank our partners at Scottish Rugby and Glasgow Life for enabling this to happen.

"We now have a fantastic opportunity to play our match against Edinburgh Rugby in front of a record Glasgow crowd and supporters of both teams can look forward to finding out who will lift the 1872 Cup next month."
