Leinster head coach Matt O'Connor described their weekend clash with Connacht as being "brutal", with the Pro12 win secured in the 77th minute.
Connacht had taken the lead thanks to a try from Kieran Marmion but the Pro12 champions fought their way back thanks to the boot of Ian Madigan.
The comeback was finally sealed with three minutes left when Leinster were awarded a penalty try, with O'Connor left a relieved boss.
"It was brutal," he told the RaboDirect PRO12's website.
"We had dominance and the way the game was going you had to get pay out of your dominance.
"I think that sequence led to the scrum pressure which led to us getting penalised but ultimately that changed the mentality of our blokes and their blokes.
"They got a couple of blokes in the sin bin, led to the penalty try and that wins you the game."
