No Ospreys pressure for Jones

Calm: Lyn Jones

Lyn Jones is adamant there is no added pressure as his Dragons side prepare to face the Ospreys on Friday at the Liberty Stadium.

The Director of Rugby returns to face the side he led to two Magners League titles and an Anglo-Welsh Cup, but insists the fixture bears no extra significance.

"Was it one of the first fixtures I looked for? No," Jones told the South Wales Argus.

"But I look forward to going down to the Liberty, I've not been there for a number of years and it will be nice to catch up with a number of people and see how the game has moved on there.

"What is nice is that the memories of starting regional rugby at the Ospreys, it was an exciting time and there was an air of wanting to make the game bigger and better."

One perceived failure of Jones' reign in Swansea was the region's disappointing European form.

With the current Ospreys charges already struggling to remain in contention for Heineken Cup knock-out stage qualification, the Dragons boss is looking forward to gauging their reaction to continental trials.

"It's going to be interesting to see how they bounce back," added Jones.

"They do a lot of talking privately about where they are and they have gone three games without victory and just the one try.

"It will be interesting to see what state they are in mentally and I expect a big opening 15 minutes from them, it's whether we can weather that storm.

"When we played the Scarlets at Rodney Parade we got a good start, which helped us through the game.

"The Ospreys rely on a really big start before they get the big boys running with the ball and Dan Biggar kicking it."
