Early points: Alberto Di Bernardo

Tries from Alessandro Zanni and Luca Morisi sent Treviso on their way to a 23-3 victory over Connacht at home in Italy.

Treviso were looking to bounce back from last week's defeat to Ulster, while Connacht were in poor form, and headed into the game on the back of a heavy reverse at home to Ospreys.

The Italians capitalised following a yellow card shown to Paul O'Donohoe to go in front through Alberto Di Bernardo's sweetly struck penalty.

In a low-scoring first half, it remained 3-0 until the closing stages of the opening 40 minutes, when Di Bernardo added two more three-pointers to Treviso 9-0 up at the break.

The beginning of the second half was a more lively affair, as the home side began to take chances with the ball in hand.

And their bravery was rewarded on 51 minutes when Alessandro Zanni charged over for Tobias Botes to convert, making it 16-0 with time ticking away.

Dan Parks struck back for Connacht with a penalty goal to reduce the deficit to 13, but that would be as close as the visitors got in the second half as Treviso wrestled their way into the ascendancy once more.

Barbieri's sin-binning on 69 minutes threatened to prise open a window of opportunity for Connacht, but the home defence regathered to disperse the visitors' attacking threat, and Treviso were able to seal victory with a second converted try.

The points came a minute from time, when replacement scrum-half Luca Morsi scrambled over for Botes to convert and seal the win.
