As I have posted in previous articles, Wales are suffering from the decission to reduce our senior competative sides to four regions. I can understand the need to do so but with a pool of four teams to select from and those peppered with non Welsh tallent, our stock of international quality players can not withstand the exodus of so many players. France and England with a large top division are able to import foreign tallent and maintain a large pool of international quality players. Sadly Scottish palyers don't seem to be in such demand and the Irish have sorted their squads with financial incentives. Wales must act by either reducing foreign imports or copying the Irish idea to discourage the drain on our resources. Alternatively there needs to be an agreement between National Unions to facilitate the release of players for ADEQUATE international preparations. Unfortunately, we Welsh seem to be the only ones being disadvantaged and we are dealing with THE FRENCH! Those who released Welsh sheep onto the Champs Elise to safeguard their own lamb industry and tipped Spanish fruit and veg out of lorries at the border for the same reason. Don't expect any favours there! However, if nothing is done, to paraphrase the immortal Max Boyce, 'the Welsh regions will be a supermarche now' for Les Bleus to pic and mix our home grown tallent.

I don't understand why they sign these deals so early in the season, at least give your fans the satisfaction of not having to worry about not having you until the summer...
If I was the coach, I'd drop him and start developing for next season, in my eyes he's no longer part of the team or its future.

As long as the players sort out their contracts for all release, good luck to them.
Otherwise, they may be saying goodbye to test rugby.

I don't actually have a problem with players going overseas. I'm a country over club fan, and watching someone like Tom Palmer really flourish in France while keeping a frenchman from playing week in week out rugby and beling opicked for france, its a great result for England. Gatland should think this through, exposing Charteris to french forward play could make him a far better player.
