The Crusaders have strengthened their front row options by signing Highlanders hooker Ged Robinson on a two-year deal.
The 31-year-old, who spent just one season at the Highlanders,
He will fill the gap of veteran hooker Corey Flynn who has left the Crusaders for Top 14 outfit Toulouse.
Robinson admits that he faces a challenge if he wants to be the Crusaders' first-choice number two as they also have established hookers Ben Funnell and Codie Taylor in their ranks.
''I don't play rugby just to fill the numbers,'' he told Fairfax Media.
''Obviously you have to prove yourself and to be a part of that I still have a desire to be the best player I can be.
''I am stoked to be there is because it is a very good place to play rugby and I hope that will do with the same for my game.''
Robinson said although he liked the Highlanders' set-up, he had differences with the Dunedin-based franchise's coach Jamie Joseph which led to him joining the Crusaders.
''It was an interesting situation down there," he added.
"I really enjoyed the environment and culture but probably Jamie and I had different ideas about things - we kind of decided to part ways, really.''
