Hurricanes boss Mark Hammett has made two changes to his starting XV for Friday's clash with the Stormers in Cape Town.

Hurricanes boss Mark Hammett has made two changes to his starting XV for Friday's clash with the Stormers in Cape Town.

Former All Blacks prop John Schwalger comes into the front-row with Jeffery Toomaga-Allen dropping to the bench while Mark Reddish takes over from Mark Abbott in the second row.

There are two further changes on the replacements bench. Ardie Savea comes into the matchday 23 at the expense of Adam Hill while Reddish's spot goes to James Broadhurst.

Schwalger's selection is a clear indication that Hammett wants to strengthen the scrums after they battled in that department in last weekend's 27-9 loss to the Sharks in Durban.

Friday's game with the Stormers is an important one for loosehead prop Ben Franks, who will be making his 100th Super Rugby appearance.

Franks played 83 matches for the Crusaders since 2006 and 16 for the Hurricanes, after joining the Wellington-based franchise last year.
