Brumbies centre Christian Lealiifano is set to miss the start of the Super Rugby season after requiring ankle surgery following the Wallabies' tour.
According to the Canberra Times, the Australian back's return hasn't been given a date as doctors wait to assess his ankle post the operation.
"Christian's booked in for surgery and ready to go. He'll have a week off and then come back to get that done,'' said director of rugby Laurie Fisher.
"It's impossible to say how long it will have him out for.
"But we don't expect him to be available for the first round, that's not in our expectations.
"Until they open his ankle up, they're not exactly sure what damage they'll be repairing."
Lealiifano was a key member of the Brumbies squad that reached last season's final, forming good playing relationships with Matt Toomua and Tevita Kuridrani.
