All Blacks hooker Andrew Hore will not return to the Highlanders for the 2014 Super Rugby season.
Hore's future has been the source of plenty of speculation over the last few weeks and the 35-year-old seems set to retire.
Having won 79 Test caps for New Zealand, Hore is expected to confirm his retirement at the end of The Rugby Championship.
Hore played 29 times for the Highlanders after racking up over 100 appearances in Super Rugby for the Hurricanes.
Highlanders head coach Jamie Joseph has praised Hore's contribution to the Dunedin side, whilst indicating that the team are looking to develop youngsters Liam Coltman and Brayden Mitchell.
"Horey's contribution to New Zealand rugby has been enormous and the fact that he is still playing at the very top level at 35 years of age is testament to his durability and skill as a player," said Joseph.
