Round 10 Standouts: Ralepelle and Schatz

Now that the dust has settled in the southern hemisphere, Planet Rugby thought it only right to laud the star players of Super Rugby, Round 10.

Without further ado, here comes our offering - be sure to send in your own 15-1 team selections.

15 Jesse Mogg (Brumbies): The rugby league convert caught the eye in his side's draw with the Reds, gaining 72 metres on attack, with eight defenders beaten in the process. His booming boot also helped to get his side out of trouble on a couple of occasion when they were defending their line. Just edges out Waratahs full-back Israel Folau who is improving with every outing and scored a memorable try in his side's win over the Chiefs.

14 Rod Davies (Reds): His electrifying pace proved a handful for the Brumbies and the "Rocket" sealed a good attacking display by scoring his side's second try against the Brumbies.

13 Adam Ashley-Cooper (Waratahs): Gave the Chiefs' defenders nightmares with several devastating attacking runs in the Sydneysiders' victory. Made a telling break which led to Cam Crawford's try and also stood out on defence with 12 tackles made.

12 Jan Serfontein (Bulls): The 20-year-old played with maturity beyond his years in his side's demolition of the Kings. Solid on defence with 11 tackles but it was on attack where he made his mark with 42 metres won and was rewarded with a try after fine support play. Sees off the challenge of Reds midfielder Ben Tapuai who did well against the Brumbies.

11 Willie le Roux (Cheetahs): Another polished display from the Cheetahs flyer, who, despite playing on the wing, was at the heart of most of the Cheetahs' attacks in the win over the Sharks. Won 61 metres on attack and scored the match-winning try in a close encounter. Keeps out Reds speedster Digby Ioane who was dangerous with ball in hand against the Brumbies.

10 Morne Steyn (Bulls): Was his normal steady self and directed operations well in his side's win over the Kings. His kicking - tactically and at goal - was superb and he also managed to get his dangerous outside backs firing.

9 Alby Mathewson (Western Force): Despite finishing on the losing side, Mathewson played brilliantly against his former team. Scored a fantastic individual try and almost managed to engineer a surprise win for the visitors.

8 Jake Schatz (Reds): Led the Reds' defensive effort against the Brumbies with 16 tackles but also put in a big effort in the line-out where he won five balls. Highlanders rookie TJ Ioane also deserves a mention after a superb allround display against the Crusaders that included 17 hits.

7 Heinrich Brussow (Cheetahs): Was the best tackling openside flanker of the weekend with 15 hits made. Managed to frustrate the Sharks by holding up several of their players in the tackle which won his side crucial turnovers, especially when they were under the cosh for large periods during the second half. Brumbies legend George Smith and Reds tearaway Liam Gill also deserve a mention after an epic duel in Brisbane.

6 Brad Shields (Hurricanes): Is highly-rated in New Zealand and it showed in the Hurricanes' win over the Western Force. Thrives on the physical aspect of the game and made a big impact, with a try, four line-outs won and 13 tackles made.

5 Sam Whitelock (Crusaders): Another big performance from the All Black, with a handful of clean line-out wins and a solid defensive effort, including 10 tackles made.

4 Luke Romano (Crusaders): Went head-to-head with his Crusaders predecessor, All Blacks legend Brad Thorn, in the win over the Highlanders and got the better of the old warhorse. Impressed as his side's enforcer and also won his fair share of line-out balls.

3 Jeffery Toomaga-Allen (Hurricanes): Capped a fine all-round performance with a try in the 'Canes' victory over the Force. Scrummed well and was the 'Canes' best defender with 18 tackles.

2 Chiliboy Ralepelle (Bulls): Put in a magnificent performance against the Kings and was always in the thick of the action. Gained 58 metres with several barnstorming runs and also did his bit on defence with seven tackles made.

1 Coenie Oosthuizen (Cheetahs): Returned to the Cheetahs run-on side and played like he had a point to prove. Did his basics well, but also shone with ball in hand, gaining 32 metres, and made five hits on defence. Despite playing in the front-row, he is like an extra back-rower as he competes with great intensity at the breakdowns.
