Francois Hougaard: Could face the Kings

The Bulls' Springbok duo Francois Hougaard and Bjorn Basson could face the Kings in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

The Bulls have revealed that Springbok duo Francois Hougaard and Bjorn Basson could return to action in Saturday's clash against the Kings in Port Elizabeth.

The Pretoria-based franchise released an injury update saying there were no major injuries in Saturday's victory over the Cheetahs.

However, several players picked up light strains according to team doctor Org Strauss.

Due to this Akona Ndungane (knee), Jano Vermaak (hamstring), Deon Stegmann (hamstring) and Jacques Potgieter (groin) will only train on Wednesday, but all should be available for their first time clash with the Kings.

Vermaak was replaced by Sharks scrum-half Cobus Reinach in the Springbok training camp which led to concern that he may be in doubt to play against the Kings.

Basson and Hougaard (both ankle), who returned home from tour in Australasia due to injury, will also train on Wednesday and could play in PE.

The news that Frans Venter will be out for two months due to a groin operation this week, is offset with Wynand Olivier returning to the fray next week.

Olivier is recovering well from a knee operation.

The Bulls injury list as supplied by Strauss is:

Grant Hattingh (thumb fracture - four weeks until he returns), Wynand Olivier (knee - one week), Marcel van der Merwe (knee - three weeks), Zane Kirchner (finger - four weeks), Cornell Hess (knee - six to eight months), Francois Venter (groin - eight weeks), Jean Cook (ankle - one week).
