Cooper Vuna taking it on for Rebels

Back to face the Force: Cooper Vuna

The Rebels have confirmed that winger Cooper Vuna will miss just one game after being sent home from South Africa on Sunday.

Vuna and team-mate Kurtley Beale were sent back to Melbourne following an altercation on the team bus in the wake of last week's loss to the Sharks.

The Rebels were returning to their team hotel after a night out when Vuna intervened in a spat between Beale and captain Gareth Delve and then traded blows with Beale.

He then tweeted about the incident, naming Beale, in another breach of team protocol.

Vuna was stood down from Saturday's match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein but will face no further sanction.

The Rebels announced on Wednesday that Vuna would be available for their match against Western Force on April 6 in Perth, taking into account his previous good behaviour and community work.

"I am deeply sorry for the embarrassment this event has caused to the club and the people I love," Vuna said in a statement.

"During my time with the Melbourne Rebels I have turned my life around.

"The outcome of this incident in Durban is not consistent with the values of my family, my church and my football club.

"I apologise to the many loyal Rebel fans who have been an inspiration to me."

The inquiry into Beale's actions is continuing with a verdict expected on Thursday.
