Ha ha I hope not, I imagine Weepu is off desserts for the foreseeable. I think Tameafuna needs to skip a few as well.

Let's hope that he does not take the cup for a profiterol pie. We want the cup back integer in 2015.

The Chiefs too had a bruising game, so they are not totally rested and Clarke will not be 100%, as far as my experience with knee injuries is concerned.

I think that everyone on here agrees that both teams are deserving finalist.

I think they are definatly in with a chance, but all that travel has to count in the end.

I did wonder if the Stormers finishing strongly had anything to do with it last weekend.

Carpelone, it's rumoured he likes to polish the world cup so they reward him with the odd test now and then.

wooden_spoon, I wish the Sharks the best and wouldn't ever begrudge them a title, however they are 0-3 in finals and I cannot really remember when their "stars" last turned it on on the "big stage".

Who in their team has won a Currie cup, World Cup, Trinations, U20s title, Super rugby title recently? It's not a slight against the Sharks as I appreciate their work (and had thought the NZRU missed a trick by not reappointing Plumtree to the Canes last year), ... but I'd be genuinely interested to know?

I have always appreciated the Sharks willingness to have a foreigner or two in the operation, Freddie and obviously Gregor, I wish more NZ teams would do the same but I guess Durban is a slightly better prospect than a winter in Hamilton or whatever.

As a side note, the Chiefs have done well for a team which had no starting All Blacks at the start of the season (and maybe 1 now) but plenty of U20 stars, which bodes very well for the future.

Awesome and may the best team win.

@kiwiLad, sorry I was doing trinat imitations in the hope that my "prediction" would be as close as his were for the 2nd SF. My head says too much travel...but, but if you don't try to adjust body clock and just view it as a very early morning game....just maybe with this team firing on all cylinders and coming out of the blocks for an early lead...the hand of history tapping gently on the shoulder....just maybe?

Sharks by 8. They are generally one of the most consistent teams in Super Rugby both home and away.

When the big stage counts, none of the Chiefs and truly know how to stand up. Sharks have enough stars to turn it on when it matters.

Piri is in the NZ squad to lead the Haka.

Freddie M was great. AC also played over Dan C but everyone is allowed an off-day. Try keeping it up for more than 1 or 2 consecutive seasons at that level before a player can be considered for rugby royalty status.

I didn't think much of JdP or Aplon, for them to get in the side, however, other than Ludik, none of the wingers really stood out his weekend, same with the tight heads.

I thought both Stormers locks were outstanding, the only Stormers players who I thought had a good game.

@porridge, not sure where you got that someone said that Cruden was average. The only reference to average I found was about Cruden making Carter look average.

Regarding NZ half backs, I'm still really confused as to what Piri Weepu is doing in the NZ squad. He plays like a NH #9 and slows the NZ ball down so much. 4 much better options and he no longer needs to cover 10 either, with Cruden and Barrett both coming on really strongly.

@ Bones7 - your mediocre comments belie an active mind...

;-)

@ passtheball - I agree that SBW's strengths don't lie in a kicking game. It's just that I think having a 10, 12 and 15 with good boots gives the scrum-half a few more options.

Cruden vs Michalak..? I think that FM looked better on the day, because he wasn't opposite DC. AC had to not only play a blinder, but was always going to be compared to his opposite man. And please excuse me Stormers' fans, but DC, AC and FM are way ahead of Grant, however good he is. That's why I give my plaudits to AC over FM. FM was MotM, but of the four 10s out there, AC was the shining light. Not by much, but enough to edge out FM. But I have to say, had FM been given the 10 of the week, I wouldn't have complained. And, I suppose, as Bones7 suggests, perhaps AC's success was more down to Kerr-Barlow's ability to give him time and space..?

At least, that's my take on it.

I'm not entirely sure why we're all getting so animated by the 10s, or anyone else for that matter. As we all know, they're all so damned mediocre, I'm surprised we're wasting our time on them.

(PHEW! Now I feel better!)

;-)

as a NH neutral, I'm looking forward to seeing Ker-Barlow in the rugby championship very exciting player with a decent service too. I can name 3 NH no.9's who are dangerous around the ruck but none of them can produce quick ball to save their lives. for me, that means they are usless because you're basically playing with 9 players and the tenth man gets man and ball at the same time. bye bye attack. I wish people up here would just watch what NZ are doing and learn some hints. The inventive and high work rate loose play is complimented by solid bread and butter forward play and the best rucking game on the planet. They play 15 man rugby the way its suposed to be played. Forwards executing their roles and setting the platform for the backs to play off. its not basketball rugby, it's total rugby. No extremes therefore no glaring weaknesses, straight down the middle, BALANCE. perfection. Anyway, looking forward to Saturday. Also like the Sharks style too. They do the basics well too and have a wicked off loading / support game.

@porridge_time - Please, take a chill pill. Regardless of your experience and insight that exudes from this page, Freddy was without doubt the 10 of the week. The way he set up for the drop goal and then ran the move leading to JPP's try was sublime.

Cruden is good but on the day, its was Freddy and then the rest.

@porridge absolutely agree with your comments about Cruden I'm a Dan Carter fan but this year I enjoyed watching Cruden more he had a hell of alot of memorable games in this tournament and he is my pick for player of the tournament, Michalaks come right at the business end and so has JP Pieterson but Crudens been fantastic right through.......

Sharks by 12. I think that the sharks are on such a wave right now that they will turn the taps on in the first half and just blow the Chiefs away. Expect a fightback in the second half with a consolation try or two in the last 10 minutes, but it will be too little too late.

Posted 06:08 01st August 2012

porridge_time says...

Michalak played extremely well, but to suggest that Cruden was average is stupidity and shows a lack of knowledge of the game. Aaron Cruden has been consitently the best ten in the competition in my opinion and is certainly breathing down the neck of Carter for the AB's.

New_j4a, your comment almost implies that you believe the Sharks will win this weekend.

I admire your confidence, do you not feel the travel could hinder them???

Are you dismissing the Chiefs as a chance??
