Cool says...

Why were no complaints registered with management after winning the Currie Cup 42-16 against a full strength Sharks.

@Jonesy2... You could say exactly the same thing about the Western Force who got themselves in exactly the same position with Mitchell a few years ago. He got his Coaching powers temporarily suspended due to player complaints. As for the Lions lets not forget that the Lions won the 2011 Currie Cup under Mitchell beating the Sharks in the final. The truth seems to be that he tends to react badly if things are not going well. He has been in similar situations with the All Blacks and Sarries.

Ramage, played against him, hard man, uncomprimising.

Very short on words, shorter on niceties.

Brother Paul an absolute gent by comparison.

Very interested to hear what's going on in HQ ? He does seem to be quite a grumpy character but would you blame him training a team like the Lions ??

@jonesy2

Harsh & rubbish. John Mitchell is an an@l retentive clown who is hated by many including a hellavalot of kiwi myself included after his tenure 2003 & the way he goes about running a team. He got what he deserves a public humiliation which is what he is.

One read of Anton Oliver's biography told me all I need to know about Mitchell. No surprises here. From memory, Christian Cullen simply labelled him a ****

Geez @kid_diablo, that's a little rich dude. Calm down, you'll get yourself into big trouble making that kind of accusation against someone you obviously don't even know.

Herbman -- yeah fair enough but from the facts given how can a coach be suspended, and suspended because of complaints from players. dont treat a coach like a child, sack him if hes done something wrong but it all sounds like a joke to me

kid_diablo - that is a very offensive suggestion to make.

keep your pervy thoughts to yourself

I heard some weird things about Mitchell over the years. When I was in England he rumor was after a big loss in the preseason, he forced his players to consume copious amounts of beer while having to simultaneously do sprint training. Players were passing out left, right and center, but he wanted to teach them a lesson. I think this was with the sarries. A rumor mind you, but where there's smoke...

Herbman says...

@jonesy2 why would you judge like that if nobody even knows what happened??

Posted 11:20 23rd June 2012

Ramage says...

Doubt it was that kid_diablo. It will be about man management as he has form in his lack of it. Sacked from the All Blacks despite a good record complaints from the Force players and a minder put in before leaving for the Lions. Seems he has problems with the younger guys and their outlook on life. Wonder who will take him next?

Wallaroo says...

Bloody hell, doesn't sound like right. Mitchell doesn't strike me as a bad bloke, must have been the pressure of relegation. Methinks South Africa is far to political, they seem to take politics into every environment and situation far too much.

jonesy2 says...

why do the lions even exist? they had better not be playing super rugby next year because they are an embarrassment to be honest on and off the field. not john mitchell by the way, just the players and the idiots who think its normal to suspend a coach because of some complaints from players who in all likelyhood deserve to be sacked instead. what a joke
