Well well, this makes things intersting. But I`m not sure Rassie will even take the Springbok job...I must say that I read an article that John Smit said, the SARU already chose their next coach but they are stalling because off their impulsive deciosion making in the past and they receive a lot of criticism against them.

I don`t think its a coincidence that Rassie resign so close too annoucing the next Springbok coach...

Mystryfing isnt it lol is he the new boks coach or part of the team ??.Or is he heading to Saracens or to be part of an England team lol.Alot of people are assumimg Mallet will be the next England coach but im not so sure i would prefer J.Mitchell myself as England coach lol as his not afraid to let loose the young talant with G.Henry as Elite director of rugby at the RFU and both advocate a dynamic high tempo style of play that would suit england for 2015

@ dclp: amen... Definitely sucks to be a Stormers fan right now. No matter how well they've done over the last couple of years, we can all sense something is wrong there.

I am normally very optimistic about our chances, but considering everything - including a distinct lack of a winning attitude last year (or killer instinct - whatever you want to call it) - I am feeling very concerned about this Super 15.

The only shining light for me is the return of Joe Pietersen. If he can be as good as he was when he left, he might just be the spark (or kick up the @$$ - whatever you want to call it) our back line needs...

That and Robbie Fleck hopefully learning a thing or two on the coaching course he went on. He surely can't coach any more one-dimensional attacking play than last year...!

So I'll clutch at these straws...

I predict Crusaders to dominate with their new home ground... Reds to show that they were a one-hit wonder (as I said all year)... Chiefs and Blues to be the new threats... Bulls to embarrass their fans... Sharks to be as inconsistent as ever... Hurricanes to embarrass THEIR fans... Lions to finally show some pride... Force to fall out of the bus... Stormers to still lack BMT when it matters... Highlanders to punch above their weight but be killed in their conference... Rebels, Waratahs, Brumbies, Cheetahs - who knows? Perhaps seasons of two halves.

Whatever happens though, I'm sure it will be highly unpredictable and happen spectacularly! This is Super Rugby after all... :)

bet he`s lining up a job at saracens -- he`s a big mate of brendan venter --and sarries have big ambitions --andy farrell will probably transfer to the england coaching squad permanently ----- leaving a hole for rassie

Yeah, agree with you guys, BIG fav for the bok job.

Not a bad choice for the Boks.

Experience will come soon.

And there was me wondering (a) when SARU would get around to appointing a new coach & (b) who it might be. This would appear to answer both questions.

Leaving without silverware? I am sure we are in a better state than before but one can't help feeling VERY disappointed in Rassie leaving with a job half done...

Rumour is that his heading back to his roots in the Freestate with some local Cheetah fan that promised him his sheep farm! ;)

Herbman says...

With the new bok coach being announced at the end of the month, surely this means he has already been selected as part of the staff at least?
