Colin Slade - awesome player who is almost back from injury

It was nice to see Neemia Tialata take the field alone for his 100th game, and do so with genuine humility. He was clearly embarrassed by the limelight. It made a nice contrast with all the dickheads who celebrate like soccer players when (or before) they score.

Tialata has been a terrific player for the Hurricanes and the All Blacks, a man who has struggled on despite carrying a number of injuries (there was a fairly long spell when he seemed to need treatment several times a game).

Was his decision to head to the northern hemisphere, made so early in the season, in part a quiet response to Mark Hammett's regime? Did he announce it when he did so as not want to feed speculation on what he saw as a growing problem between coach and Canes? Whether that is true or not (and it is speculation), he would be embarrassed by the suggestion, I don't doubt.

So Mils Muliaina criticises the decision to take the drop kick that early ("I thought we had control and I would have liked to play a few more phases before going for it.") ...

Well, I read that as openly critical of Stephen Donald, who was calling for the ball.

It appears that Donald's fellow players are now as critical as the fans of Donald's decision-making.

To be fair to Donald, however, there is a high probability that a team pick-and-going for phase after phase will eventually knock-on or lose possession. So though the Chiefs were rumbling forward with alarming ease, if Donald felt he was within range then on this occasion I agree with his decision.

Was this the last game of Mils for Chiefs, right?

Good chap and outstanding footballer, never a word or a behaviour wrong, a great competitor.

It was good to see Hore, Weepu,Nonu, Jane at least getting some good rugby minutes under their belts.

Totally convinced now that neither Cruden& Donald are going to make the WC or even Tri nations squads. Colin Slade we await your return.
