No big names this time, but three more players have joined the Melbourne Rebels for the next Super 15 season.
19-year-old JP Du Plessis joins from NRL team the Sydney Roosters, 21-year-old Australian Sevens' back Nicholas Phipps joins and 22-year-old Hugh Pyle joins from the Brumbies Academy.
Du Plessis was plucked from South Africa by Rooster scouts, having made a name for himself in the 'Rainbow Nation'. He was considered a near-certain future Springbok but opted to switch codes instead. He is likely to play either at centre or on the wing.
"I miss rugby union, I've played it all my life and looking forward to playing it again," he said.
"I've really enjoyed my experience with rugby league, but can't wait to play Super Rugby with the Melbourne Rebels."
Pyle comes to the Rebels from the Brumbies Academy and will join up with fellow ex-Brumby Julian Huxley, while Phipps competed in the IRB Sevens World Series after a strong year in 2009 captaining Sydney University's Premiership-winning Colts team. He is also a kicker and will play for Australia at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.
