Will Genia: Bath bound?

According to reports in Australia, Will Genia looks set to head to the Premiership after the 2015 World Cup to join Bath.

The Reds and Australia scrum-half is apparently one of the big names owner Bruce Craig mentioned in June when referring to Bath's post-World Cup recruitment.

The Australian Daily Telegraph has reported that Bath's audacious bid has already led to talks between the two sides, as Genia could follow in the footsteps of Rugby League convert Sam Burgess in swapping Australia for England.

Despite enduring an injury-disrupted season, Genia is still regarded as one of the best scrum-halves in the world, and would fill a gap in the Bath squad where 36-year-old Peter Stringer was first choice last season.

"We've built over the past two years and we're building this year," Craig told the BBC.

"We've got Sam Burgess coming in, we've got Henry Thomas coming in, we've got other new players.

"We've already signed some players for post-World Cup going into what we consider our 150th year which is the 2015-16 season. We're putting everything in place to actually be in a position to win trophies."

Genia is currently recovering from ankle surgery which has kept him out of Wallaby contention this season, having been ruled out for the June Tests against France and missing out on the squad for the Rugby Championship.

He had previously been linked to a move to the Top 14 after the World Cup, with Toulon and promoted side Lyon both eager to sign the former Wallaby skipper, however it now appears that Bath are the front runners.
