Team manager: Sonny Parker

London Welsh have announced the appointment of Sonny Parker as their team manager with immediate effect, the newly-promoted club confirmed.

A Grand Slam winner with Wales in 2008, Parker was capped 31 times during a career which saw him play in two World Cups, in 2003 and 2007.

After eight campaigns at the Ospreys he joined London Welsh in 2012 and last season helped them to Championship glory, playing 42 times.

As London Welsh's full-time team manager, Parker will be responsible for all logistical and operational requirements necessary to support the professional team, as well as providing the link between the playing and non-playing sides of the club.

"I don't really think of it as hanging up my boots, it's just another adventure within rugby. For me, retirement from rugby would mean leaving the game completely and that's not the case. Rugby has been an amazing part of my life, and I'm not leaving it," he said.

"I definitely wanted to stay in rugby and the team manager's role was one I began thinking about during last season. I felt it was a job I could do well and I wanted to make a contribution to the club.

"I'd very much like to thank Justin, David Jenkins, Steve Lewis and Mike Stevens for giving me this opportunity.

"It's been good so far. I'll always miss playing games but when I got a moment this week to watch the guy's training and being beasted, I didn't really miss it."
