London Welsh have confirmed the signing of former England U20 and Gloucester hooker Koree Britton ahead of next season.

London Welsh have confirmed the signing of former England U20 and Gloucester hooker Koree Britton ahead of next season.

Britton represented England at the U20 IRB Junior World Cups in 2011 and 2012, and was a member of the side which won the 2011 Six Nations Grand Slam and the 2012 Six Nations title.

The 5ft 11in and 17st 11lb front row forward brings Aviva Premiership and European experience to London Welsh, having broken in to the Gloucester first team during the 2012/13 season.

He made his Premiership debut against London Wasps in September 2012 at Kingsholm, and went on to make 17 league appearances for Gloucester, as well as starting the Cherry and Whites' Amlin Cup quarter-final with Biarritz in April 2013.

He ended last season at Northampton Saints, for whom he made one Premiership appearance as a replacement in Northampton's 74-13 win over London Wasps at Franklin's Gardens.

Born in Torquay, Britton moved to Gloucester from Exeter Chiefs at the age of 17, having played with the Chiefs from U10s to Colts. He joined Gloucester in 2009.

"Koree will add some serious competition to an already talented group of hookers," said London Welsh head coach Justin Burnell.

"He brings Premiership experience and has the size and physicality we are looking for in building our squad of forwards.

"He also possesses the attitude and approach which is consistent with the environment that we have strived to build at the club, and we are delighted that he has decided to sign for us."
