Warren Fury: Penned a new two-year deal

Scrum-half Warren Fury is the latest player to pledge his future to Newcastle Falcons after signing a new two-year deal.

Fury, 28, who was part of Wales' 2008 tour of South Africa and in the 2009 Six Nations squad, has made 44 appearances for the Falcons since making the switch to the North East in September 2012.

Playing a key role in Newcastle's rise back to the Aviva Premiership, the Swansea-born half-back has shown he can cut it in the big time with a string of impressive displays this term.

Fury's try three minutes from time at home to Saracens last weekend, his sixth in a Falcons jersey, earned his side a crucial losing bonus-point in their quest to mathematically secure their Premiership status.

The talented Welshman, who was a Premiership winner with London Wasps at the tender age of 18, will compete with incoming Bristol scrum-half Ruki Tipuna and experienced Scotland international Mike Blair for the coveted number nine jersey next season.

"There is a great culture being created here at the club at present and I'm really pleased to be a part of it," said Fury.

"The North East public are extremely passionate about sport, and I can really feel that passion every time I play at Kingston Park.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge of competing for a regular first team place," he added.

Newcastle director of rugby Dean Richards said: "Warren is a tenacious and determined individual who gives his all every time he walks out onto the park.

"He's also a great character both on and off the pitch and I'm really pleased he has re-signed with the club."
